Psycheelic Used Car Lot Blues by Southbound Freeway

  1. Here's another one I got from the record show on Sunday by a band called The Southbound Freeway on the Roulette label, with the irresistible A-side title of "Psychedelic Used Car Lot Blues"

  2. Sorry to hear that your wife became ill. Glad she's doing better and that you can spend time with her.

That Donnie Iris one you posted - that picture sleeve is very hard to find. I looked for it for quite a while - finally finding it recently for quite a good price. It's so nice when you can finally cross things off your want list! Now, about some of the others...

  4. A few new ones in my house:
    • Wilco/Sleater-Kinney split 7". A friend of mine saw them at Red Rocks and was kind enough to nab one from the merch table for me
    • Jeff Tweedy - Love is the King b-sides - the Wilco Store threw this in for free when I bought the Love is the King deluxe CD set
    • Wilco - Ode to Joy b-sides. Two outtakes from the last Wilco album.
Wilco have obviously been busy on the 7" front. I've also missed out on another tour 7" from this past month (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot outtakes), a 500-copy BLM fundraiser that sold out in three minutes, and a Jeff Tweedy single that was part of the Sub Pop club.
  5. Thanks for the kind words!

It took me forever to find that Donnue Iris! It was the last picture sleeve of his that I needed!

  6. 1964 7" Australian single of Love Me, Do (yep, the comma is there for some reason). It was kind of an add-on in a larger Discogs purchase. I was born in Australia so I thought it would be kind of cool to own.

The B- Side is I Saw Her Standing There. Heck of a B-Side!

  7. The Roulette label is one of my earliest record related memories with its usually colorful appearance....but that white promo label makes my heart just as happy lol.
  8. Never get tired of Stones sleeves!
  9. Same here. I hate it when I'm missing just one from an artist that's impossible to find - but there's quite a few where this is the case. Luckily I'm slowly crossing some off the list, but there's still a a handful out there that never turn up.

c-eling They're made of light,We never would have guessed

  11. I am not specifically a 7" collector, but I nabbed a nice copy of Status Quo - Pictures Of Matchstick Men at the flea market last week

  12. I have recently become obsessed with the instrumental "Telstar" by the Tornados. I have it on an LP comp but it is in reprocessed stereo. So the other day was in my local record shop and found the single for a very reasonable price. When I got home and listened to it, I thought, wow, what a different sounding record from my comp - you could hear that the beginning sound effects really were a toilet flushing and the bass line in the song came through loud and clear. It was only when I examined the label that I realized it was a totally different recording by a different band - The Ventures (whom I love anyway).
A bit later I found the Tornados' version the other day and it wasn't much more so I brought that record home. The recording is not as clean (in fact the true mono sounds about the same as the fake stereo) but that's the record I know and love.
  13. It seems like most of what I'm finding these days is 45s, at least in thrift stores. They had a pile of R&B and Doowop singles in the bin today by the likes of Chuck Willis, Roddy Jackson, Chris Connor, Gene Allison, Jimmy Reed, LaVerne Baker, nothing newer than 1958. Several were white label promos, including a Jimmy Reed one on Vee-jay and The Spotlighters on Aladdin. I'd buy that for a dollar! (which what they charge for vinyl regardless of size)

The Roddy Jackson one is a real winner, and features an early Sonny Bono composition on the B-side:

  14. Found a copy of this for 50 cents in a thrift shop the other day.
  15. Although isnt' not over yet, i've ordered
    and recieved most of these:

  18. Finally found a cheap copy of "Listen, Listen!" by the Merry-Go-Round, and it's the version with "Missing You" on the b-side rather than "Gonna Leave You Alone", which was already available on the album. Both versions have the same catalog # as well.
